I’ve found this doodle very inspiring. I was sitting in a meeting next to the Associate University Librarian for the University of Michigan, and while he was presenting I was doodling in a shifting grid of abstract shapes, as above. I was also trying to be very clear that I was paying close attention to his presentation. (I had heard a version of it twice before.) He kept glancing down at my notebook. After the meeting, he said something to me that was either nice or passive-aggressive, I couldn’t decide. He also put his hand on my shoulder when he said it. He might have liked my doodle, or disliked the fact that I was doodling, or both.
